How Soul Mechanical Transformed a Boiler System with Rinnai 399MBH Boilers

At Soul Mechanical, we’re all about taking old, failing systems and turning them into something efficient and reliable. Our latest project involves a comprehensive upgrade of a failed boiler system with a modern setup that will improve heating performance and reliability  for years to come. Here’s a closer look at what we’re doing and why this planned approach makes all the difference.

The Challenge: Replacing an Inefficient System

We were brought in to tackle a boiler system that had seen better days. The existing setup was prone to frequent breakdowns, and no longer meeting the building’s needs. The goal? To replace the old system with a more reliable, high-efficiency solution using four Rinnai 399MBH boilers.

But the work needed to be done thoughtfully. A heating upgrade is a significant project, and ensuring it was planned correctly meant no disruption to building operations — especially during the cooling season when heat isn’t a primary concern.

Planned Replacement: No Disruption, Just Results

Unlike emergency fixes or rushed installations, this project was meticulously planned. By carefully coordinating the replacement, we ensured the building wouldn’t experience any heat interruptions. This approach allowed us to upgrade the entire system without any downtime that would impact occupants.  We also ensured that the board and property manager remained up to date through various stages of the project.

Removing the Old Boilers: A Fresh Start

The first step in any retrofit is getting the old equipment out of the way. Soul Mechanical’s team safely removed and disposed of the old  boilers, clearing the path for the new system. This is always a critical part of the job — handling heavy, outdated equipment with precision ensures safety and sets the stage for a smooth installation of the new units.

Bringing in the Rinnai 399MBH Boilers

We’re installing four Rinnai 399MBH boilers, known for their efficiency, reliability, and excellent warranty. Due to the layout constraints, we’re configuring the boilers in a rack system that maximizes space and maintains easy access for future maintenance.

This design allows us to fit the new system neatly into the available area, ensuring it operates at peak performance without unnecessary strain on the building’s layout.

Upgrading Venting, Water Connections, and More

Installing new boilers is only part of the process. We also needed to upgrade other system components to support the new units properly. This includes installing new venting from the boilers, which is critical for safe and efficient operation.

Additionally, new water connections are being put in place, complete with insulated lines to minimize heat loss and improve overall efficiency.

Fine-Tuning with Condensate Neutralizers and Gas Piping

Part of our upgrade includes installing new condensate neutralizers, which treat the slightly acidic byproducts of the boilers before they are safely disposed of. We also reconfigured the gas piping to fit the new boilers, ensuring the system operates safely and meets all regulatory standards.

This comprehensive approach means every aspect of the system is optimized for performance, efficiency, and safety.

The Soul "Never Compromise" Maintenance Program: Keeping the System in Top Shape

Once the installation is complete, the journey doesn’t end there. At Soul Mechanical, we know that the key to long-term reliability is proper maintenance. That’s why we offer our Soul "Never Compromise" Maintenance Program. By joining this program, clients receive extended support, including a two-year workmanship warranty (upgraded from the standard one-year) and regular, planned system checks to keep the system running smoothly. Regular maintenance helps prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensures the new boilers continue to operate at peak efficiency, year after year.

Looking Ahead: A More Reliable Heating System

This planned boiler replacement is setting the stage for a more reliable, efficient heating solution for the building. With Rinnai 399MBH boilers installed and carefully coordinated upgrades, Soul Mechanical is delivering a system that not only meets current demands but is built to handle future needs with ease.

Stay tuned as we wrap up this project and ensure everything is operating flawlessly. Whether you’re considering a similar upgrade or want to learn more about selecting the right heating system for your building, Soul Mechanical is here to guide you every step of the way.
